Happy Mardi Gras & Fat Tuesday, friends! Truthfully, Mardi Gras isn't a holiday I've celebrated much in the past (aside from a few themed parties in college) but I'd love to actually go to New Orleans someday!
Not knowing much about Mardi Gras in general, I did a little reading to gain inspiration for today's moodboard. Here are a couple facts I picked up:
- Did you know the colors of Mardi Gras were chosen in 1872 and each have their own meanings? Purple represents justice, green represents faith and gold represents power.
- A phrase used along with the Mardi Gras celebration is, "joie de vivre", a French phrase meaning "joy of living". Joie de vivre is often used to describe a person with the ability to love life to the fullest--reflected in how they act, what they do and a quality that seems to shine from within them. I loved this. I can only hope that my "joie de vivre" & energy are something I'm admired for.
Fat Tuesday is also a reminder of Ash Wednesday tomorrow & the 40 days of Lent to follow. My mom suggested "giving up" a negative quality--impatience, anxiety, fear of failure etc.--instead of a physical item. I thought this was a great idea--now I just need to choose one!
Hope y'all have a great Tuesday. Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler and thanks for reading!
What are your plans for celebrating Fat Tuesday? Do you observe Lent? If so, what are you planning to "give up"? Please share--I'd love to hear!
