Monday Mantra {pt.68} - Trust Life

Trust-Life Happy Labor Day! I hope you've enjoyed the long weekend and a break from the working grind! Just popping in quickly to share a quote that is currently living on my inspiration board. I don't know about you, but I always appreciate a reminder to trust the process and have a little faith.

Speaking of faith--if all goes as planned we are set to close on our house tomorrow! I am hoping to share a few more details with you this week on that front, so be sure to check back by.

Until then, enjoy the extra day of rest & relaxation. Thanks for reading!

kaitlyn new sig I'm (obviously) a big fan of a good inspirational quote and would love to hear some of your favorites as well! Don't hesitate to email me or share one in the comments :)

Oh hello, Friday. Welcome--it's about time! I hope the week has treated you all well so far. I'm excited for a extra-long weekend full of family, friends and will [hopefully] be able to share more house details with you after Labor Day.

For now, though, here are a few things that caught my eye this week:

  1. Have you ever thought about what it means to refer to yourself as a "twenty-something?" I enjoyed reading this perspective.
  2. Change up your desktop decor and hold tight to summer with these pretty backgrounds.
  3. Nothing beats fresh blooms--am I right? Here are some great tips to keep your flowers fresh.
  4. My dream inbox wishes it looks this good. Check out how one blogger and crafter reached inbox zero.
  5. Speak to me--why progress is greater than perfection.

Enjoy the long weekend, friends. Thanks for reading!

Five for Friday Finds // Home Office Decor Edition

Office Desk Decor - Kirklands Inspired

Happy weekend! I wasn't kidding earlier this week when I told you my brain is filled with all things home decor. It is seriously distracting. Anyway, keeping with the theme, I'm mixing things up a bit today with a themed Friday Finds featuring all things home office decor.

Finding stores and products that balance style and affordability has been a goal of mine as I've browsed (and dreamed) of decor ideas for our house. Kirkland's is one retailer that fits the bill. They've perfected this balance and pride themselves on offering stylish decor at a reasonable price point, as you can see from the inspiration board I shared at the beginning of this post.

To wrap things up, here are five home offices I have been dreaming of:

  1. No home office is complete without an inspiration board (or three).
  2. Add a little character to your office with this fun clipboard DIY.
  3. What an organized office aspires to be.
  4. No desk? No worries. Make your own with this DIY.
  5. The ultimate file cabinet makeover.

I'll spare you, but I honestly could go on for days. I hope you all have a lovely weekend! Thanks so much for reading. :)

I collaborated with Kirkland's on this post. As always, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I appreciate you supporting the brands that keep this blog up & running!

kaitlyn new sig What are your home office must haves? What's on your desk every day? I'd love to hear!

Let's Catch Up | Part Two

Let's Catch Up // Part IIbackground image via

Hello, hello! Happy hump day! After being MIA around here last week, I thought another catch up post was much needed and I have some exciting news to share that might help explain my absence.

After an exhausting (and frustrating) six-ish months of searching, G and I are finally under contract to buy our first house! We are beyond thrilled, thankful and excited to start a new adventure as homeowners. While we are eager to close quickly, a thirty day closing and a short, week-long due diligence period have had us both scrambling over the past two weeks. Things are moving along as they should be, though, and I will be sharing more details once everything is buttoned up.

I am looking forward to sharing updates and home projects with you here as we get them done. I already have a mile-long list of things I'm itching to experiment with! I hope you don't mind an increase in DIY projects , decor ideas and other house-related content showing up here.

Again, thank you for being so patient during one of life's crazy times. I really do appreciate it! I'd love to hear what all has been going on in your life lately--feel free to share in the comment section below!

Have a great week! kaitlyn new sig

Happy almost weekend! We are going to the annual Hootie & the Blowfish Homegrown concert tonight (a summer tradition!) so I am extra eager for the work week to come to an end. Before I head that way, though, here are some links from around the web I loved this week:

  1. Decorate your desktop with one of the August wallpapers included in this pretty round up.
  2. If you loved the recipe I shared last Friday, you won't want to miss this DIY:  Spiked Cotton Candy. Also known as heaven--amIright?
  3. Loved this article and the mantra it encourages.
  4. Three ways to add a little pretty to a plain old notebook.
  5. For my fellow bloggers:  don't miss this list of the best hashtags to promote your blog on Instagram.

That's a wrap! I hope you all have a lovely weekend--thanks for reading! kaitlyn new sig

Over to you:  What are your weekend plans? What summer traditions do you try to keep each year? I'd love to hear!

Happy August! We're close enough, right? My full-time job was extra crazy this July so I am hoping August starts at a slightly slower pace. A new month is also a great excuse to start a new series around here so be on the lookout!

Here are a few links I've loved lately to ring in the weekend:

  1. The fitted sheet struggle is real, y'all.
  2. I always look forward to The Blog Market's round-up of resources each week and especially enjoyed these links revolving around creativity and self care.
  3. Three words:  Thai Basil Margarita. This recipe seems like the perfect weekend treat!
  4. Are you a fellow Instagram addict? Check out this list of fun hashtags you should know--you won't regret it!
  5. I stumbled on this post on rest and found it very relatable. Lack of rest and burn out definitely played a role in my blogging break recently!

Enjoy your weekend! Thank you so much for reading! As always :) kaitlyn new sig

Let’s Catch Up | Back to Blogging & Life Lately

Lets-Catch-Upbackground image via

Hello again, friends! It’s me, Kaitlyn, this neglected little blog’s creator and editor, and I couldn’t be more excited to be back in action :)

I could (and probably will) write an entire post on how missing one blog post turned into a 3-month hiatus, but, until then, I’ll keep things short and sweet.

Somewhere in between life’s craziness—moving apartments, house hunting to no avail, back-to-back weekend trips, birthday celebrations, the list goes on—my priorities shifted and my blogging momentum fell to the wayside. One missed post turned into two, two into three and so on and so forth until I didn’t know how or when to jump back in. In that time I quickly learned that creativity, like any muscle, needs exercise--and mine was itching to be used!

I missed the routine, creative outlet and inspiration that blogging brings to my life, and last, but certainly not least, I missed interacting with you all! I’ve been blown away by the kind words and encouragement I’ve received from you and am so ready to get back in the ball game. I have a lot of fun projects coming up and am excited to add new projects and series into the mix.

Although I’ve been MIA around here, I haven’t been twiddling my thumbs. A catch up is long overdue so I thought I’d kick off the week with a little bit of what I’ve been up to lately.

  • Lots and lots of boat days ending with happy hours on Shem Creek.
  • A fun bachelorette party with some favorites to celebrate a sweet friend's upcoming wedding.
  • The lovely ladies at Swell Caroline treated me to this pretty pineapple necklace and I immediately fell in love with the new-to-me brand! Swell Caroline jewelry is sophisticated--but affordable--and focuses on all things bright and colorful. Huge shout out to my best for the initial ring holder that has been keeping it safe!
  • Trips to Capers Island to grill out and stay until sunset--my favorite kind of day.

  • I got to join G on a work trip to Omaha where we had the chance to meet Warren Buffet and hear him speak during dinner! It was an amazing experience and I was blown away by how sharp (and funny!) Mr. Buffet was. He's pushing 85 and did not skip a beat!
  • The next weekend G pulled off the surprise of a lifetime--we're engaged! He was able to keep me clueless and proposed at Lake Jocassee, where we go on vacation with his family every summer. To say we are excited is an understatement! He did great :)

  • My best came to visit for a good friend's wedding and we had so much fun dancing, celebrating and reuniting!
  • I got to meet my cousin's third baby and spent an unreasonable amount of time obsessing over his chunky cheeks and stealing snuggles. He is the most perfect and chill little guy!

I really appreciate all the support and patience from y'all during my time off! Cheers to being back to the blog :) Have a great Monday!

Now it is your turn--what have you been up to? Any big news? I'd love to hear about what is going on in your lives! Please share in the comment section below :)

"Orange is the happiest color." -Frank Sinatra

Hi! Just stopping in with a pop of brightness for your Thursday :) Citrus-inspired colors like grapefruit and tangerine have been on my radar lately--both standing alone and paired together. I can't get enough!

I hope your week has been a good one so far! I am preparing for a move this weekend and feel like the past few days have moved in warp speed, hence the silence around here. Regardless of how many times I've moved, the endless to-do lists and logistics sneak up on me every time. I am so looking forward to getting settled again!

Have a great day! kaitlyn new sig

Have you had similar moving experiences or are you a seasoned pro? Any tips you have to make the process easier are welcomed and much appreciated!

Happy Friday, my friends--and happy May Day! I'm so glad to be back with this series today after an unintentional hiatus. The past few weeks have been extra busy with work and life happenings, leaving less time for blogging than I'd like. I'm looking forward to a weekend sans set plans to catch up and get my posting schedule back on track. I've missed it!

Anyway, enough about me--I hope you've all had a wonderful week! Per the norm, I'll leave you with some links I've loved recently:

  1. Loved this pretty infographic from West Elm's blog Front + Main on how to propagate succulents.
  2. Treat yourself to one of these southern cocktails in honor of the Kentucky Derby this weekend.
  3. As I've mentioned here before, my sister and I grew up loving the "Anne of Green Gables" series by L.M. Montgomery and still quote the movie to this day. I was sad to learn that the actor who played Gilbert Blythe in the movies passed away this week, but thought this article from The New Yorker was very well-written and truly captured the story's charm.
  4. Pretty sure these DIY heart paperclips would make work more fun. It's the little things, right?
  5. Sundays, in a nutshell.

Have a lovely weekend!!

Monday Mantra {pt.66} - What We Believe

What we believebackground image via

Hello--I hope your week is off to a great start! A busy weekend always makes for a tough Monday, but I sure do have a happy heart today. Between a reunion for my best friend's birthday and a chance to celebrate not one, but two of my favorite couples on their engagement and upcoming wedding, lots of love was packed into the past few days. And you won't find me complaining about that. :)

I hope y'all had a lovely weekend as well! Thanks so much for reading. kaitlyn new sig

Monday Mantra - On a Tuesday

Hello! Coming atcha a day late this go around--the past few weeks have been extra busy with work and life happenings and I haven't been able to give the blog as much love as usual. Things have slowed down a bit now, though, and I am really looking forward getting back on track. I've missed posting and interacting with you lovely people!

My sister shared this quote with me last week (along with these gorgeous blooms) and I loved it. I thought it was a worthy mantra and a simple reminder that even at the most basic level, there is endless beauty and happiness to be found in life.

Have a wonderful week! Thanks for sticking in there with me :)

Monday Mantra {pt.63} - Round Up

Hi! I hope you all had a great weekend and lovely Easter. I got to spend a few days at home with my family and I enjoyed every minute! I thought I would mix it up here today mantra-wise and share a round up of a few of my favorites as of late. Clearly I'm a sucker for a good quote and anything hand lettered...

Fancying // Copper Accents

Fancying - Copper Accents1//2//3//4//5//6

While gold will always hold the top spot, copper comes in as a close second on my list of favorite metallics. The rose gold metal has become my latest obsession--I love the touch of warmth and glow it can add to a room.

Although there are plenty of high-end options out there, there are also plenty of budget-friendly ways to add copper accents to your own home. If you are a DIY-lover like myself, your options are limitless with supplies like copper foil or a simple can of copper spray paint.  If crafts aren't your thing, H&M's home line has got you covered with items like the candlesticks and votive candles pictured above. I'll leave you with a round-up of a few of my other favorites from their collection:
